How to build a high impact profile

Stand out from the crowd.

We recommend you focus on the things that make you unique. We are helping clients find real estate and mortgage brokers using values, interests, and working styles. Each client is presented with three professionals, so you want to come across as someone the client would prefer to work with.

Our tips for a winning profile

Treat your Properti Edge profile like a LinkedIn bio that reflects your professional brand,

With Properti Edge, we like to focus on what makes you unique. We are helping clients find real estate agents and mortgage brokers using values, interests, and working styles. So it would be best if you covered those bases. What do you do in your free time? Do you volunteer, and are you passionate about a charity or cause? What is your working style?

Our users expect that we have vetted you and that you are a competent industry professional, so you should show how you’re different from the other competent professionals.

A great mug.

Another must-have is a professional but approachable picture. Ideally, include your life in your photo. If you’re an animal lover, then include a picture of your dog or cat on the wall behind you. If you’ve specialized in a neighbourhood, then include a local landmark in the background. Remember, your photo will be presented alongside two other professionals from your area, so you want the photo to say something about you and how you’re different.

Short and Long Bio

Your short bio (i.e., Twitter or “X” sized) deserves the most attention. Think of how to use this space to grab a client’s attention.

Focus on the things that make you unique. Since everyone presented to the customer is licensed, we encourage you to mention information about your life before real estate. Perhaps the university you attended or a reference to your previous career. Location is also important.

We match you with clients based on values, interests, and working style, so you should cover those bases. What do you do in your free time? Do you volunteer, and are you passionate about a charity or cause? What is your working style? Do you specialize in condos or new construction?

The voice.

Your profile is a chance to add some personality to your story, so don’t copy your resume.

The best profiles are usually written in the first person (“I’m a mortgage whiz and avid runner…”), but other styles can work, too. Highlighting a specialization (“If you’re looking for a fixer-upper, I keep a database of homes that are good value and just need some TLC.”) can help engage potential clients.

Take a minute to think about the characteristics of the clients you’ve enjoyed working with in the past. Think of them as your audience. Tailor your voice accordingly, and try not to be too formulaic.

Kill the buzzwords and jargon.

Common buzzwords are ‘results’, ‘top-producer’, ‘specialized’, ‘leadership’, ‘focused’, ‘strategic’, ‘experienced’, ‘passionate’, ‘expert’, ‘trustworthy’, ‘creative’, ‘innovative’ and ‘certified’.

We’re not saying you can’t describe yourself as these things – or that they don’t matter. However, using these words alone won’t convince people that you have these qualities, and they will turn a lot of people off. You need to demonstrate who you are in words and show potential clients what you’re about.

Examples

Here are some sample introductory short bios that are less than 150 characters.

We wish you success.

Our matching algorithm means the people who see your profile are predisposed to have things in common and work well with you. You may become good friends after doing business together. This is the Properti Edge difference. We believe that the real estate business is personal. Buying and selling a home requires preparation, strategy development, and ongoing advice you can trust. A misstep or oversight could cost a client thousands of dollars, and that’s why a values-based business relationship is better.
